Dumped in the guard’s van, on dizzying mounds
Laid catercorner farm implements brace
Billets doux, bills, bills, notes, picture postcards,
Tissue of airmail spun out by fate: the express
Crosses the fields oversubscribed
Crossed to connect, statements, dirty postcards
Shunted across intermediate crops
Yesterday’s love, how many silver cups
Hidden among the sacks, among demands
On receipt, who knows what bombshells they contain?
