The Moon
Night falls -
I gaze up at the
glossy moon that hangs
effortlessly in
the sky: big, round, perfect,
candescent.
10, 9.
It’s so far away;
but yet seems so near -
as if I could reach out
and hold it in my hands.
8, 7.
I sit beside the lake
as the moon -
soft as butter -
floats like a giant
bubble.
Its pale reflection is
broken by ripples of
gentle water,
my skin bathes in its
milky light.
6, 5.
Wish I could live there.
Far away from noise, fumes
and pollution.
Far away from Earth.
4, 3.
Be an astronaut in a
shiny, silver space suit.
2, 1.
Fly to the moon in a
rocket fuelled with dreams
and fizzy moon juice.
0.
Ignition.
We have lift off.
