Obituary
Henry Keith Grant
With profound regret we record the irreplaceable loss of the Hon. Librarian of The Poetry Society and Hampstead Centre Representative to The General Council,
HENRY KEITH GRANT
An enthusiast for the best in verse, an erudite bibliographer, an authority on Scottish poetry, particularly on Burns (See Poetry Review, February-March, 1949, pages 69-71), he long and loyally served the Society and his Centre, and is mourned deeply by all who had the honour of knowing him.
The following “affectionate epitaph” has been received from his fellow member of The General Council, Leigh Henry:
GRANT, LORD, SUCH GRACE
Much did he grant,
Being more than Grant in name,
By gentle care, to cherish,
Not his, but others’, fame.
Preserving poets’ Springtide
In his own Winter’s season;
Bright-patterned volumes ranging
Shewed rhyme his very reason.
