Sea View
“I live here now,” he said,
as we stood, soaked to the skin,
in front of the six-eyed house,
its make-up peeling
from its brick complexion.
“I live here now - there’s the sea;
clouded with rain today, you see,
out there it is, though, all the same.”
I was going home down the lane,
a bottle of Buckley’s pale ale
in my jacket pocket
waiting impatiently to be poured.
And then there was the rain,
of course - pouring down!
“I live here now,” he said
as I waved goodbye,
turning my head over my shoulder,
to say goodbye.
“I live here now,” he repeated,
again and again, as I left
and went on, down the lane.
