Four
hours a day
I slept on Everest with you
and was bold with warmth and not a knife edge, splashed out
ropes and it was there. Who will love your tricks when I’m not there?
But each
day there is a pin in Everest
that doesn’t cut its rocky core, pins with
notes and haiku, scenes from ships that never sailed or were titanicked
piercing, hard, asides, The pin it
pins in sails of ships, ein schiff, ein schiff, my head is like a speaker
when we hold our heads together In a kind of knowing climbing and we
smile
sweet as only I know
there are pins with captains, crucified.
At the foot slopes, I am
Goliath, David. There is really only
one
thing that sits there, pinned up to that plastic
picture, subtle, lesbian, licking up my arm to taste my sweat
and melon muscle
juice, warm inside with seeds, green and running and that’s the question
