That most useful of writers’ resources, The Poetry Kit, has brought together a CD compilation featuring members from the UK, USA and New Zealand. Poets included are TUT contributors Jim Bennett, Dam Robinson and Philip Johnson (who also produced it), alongside the wonderful Sally James, Terry Davies, Gary Blankenship, Angela Keaton, Jazz, Grant McLemon, Stuart Nunn, Sherry Pasquarello and Christopher T.George. And, unsurprisingly, it’s rather good. Once you put aside techno-prejudice (the CD ranges in production quality from zesty sparkle to cracklingly unintelligible, but that alright - it’s just like being at a poetry night where the amps are crap [is there any other type?]) then you journey through wit and wisdom, memory and wonder, rhyme and reasonable perspective. This is a non-conspirational discourse and well before the dock is in sight you know that you are welcome on board.
