Memento Mori
Death has hollowed
the recesses of sight,
The Great Chamber
emptied of
dreams and dreaming,
The portals which
granted commerce
with the mortal
have been laid bare.
Is it these teeth
which ground
mammoth to morsel?
Are these hinges
the machines of
articulated thought.
Is this our truest selves,
hard and smoothed
all sharpness rounded?
Or is this bone , most
resolute and resistant,
just the last
to assume the dust?
