Bedtime Story
Now take our bread board
as a case in point.
Just an ordinary bread board,
bought in Konsum for three or four kronor,
round in shape,
with a hole in the handle
so you can hang it up,
and a scorch mark on one side
where we stood it
too near the gas once.
Quite an efficient bread board
as bread boards go,
but if it lays on the draining board
where it’s damp,
it warps.
Half a dozen times it’s happened.
But you can’t blame the bread board;
it’s simply easily influenced
by conditions,
by certain circumstances.
But it always returns
to its right shape again
afterwards.
It’s only ever a temporary lapse,
as you might say.
You do see what I’m getting at,
don’t you?
