She Remembers
Again it was early morning when you came in
I know this
As I waited sleeplessly in our room
I watched the time go by on the clock.
The kids wanted to see you last night.
Again you weren’t there.
This morning your face is behind the paper
Your thoughts and feelings elsewhere.
I ask questions but get no reply.
You lie by doing this.
Your face turns away
when I ask about your feelings for me and the children.
Let your mind wander to her.
You will take off again I know.
The kids won’t understand
But I shall this time
Though tears will flow
And my heart will tear
There will be no coming back.
I know this
