Neutrality
The banal drip of gold
across the leather edge of a desk
Deutsche Bank rooms
full of the eddy and twist
towards Switzerland to Turkey sunk
to the starched pure of men
dealing in neutral money
the exchange of goods and innocence
The investigator soon enough
academics in his wake
they trace it against the flow
from carpet to desk
penetrating the darkened falls
slyly
minuscule numbers on a blotter
cutting through air cleared of smoke
stairs uncluttered by limbs
thickening responsibility
like a late match-light
drawn across maps in a boardroom
motorcycles cross the border
orders in a leather satchel
deposited at the gate
guarding
squares of ramshackle huts
empty I read the dispossessed
