A smudge of island, this:
a haze of sand
fading into blue,
a scatter of whitewashed cubes,
a fuzz of firs,
wind-twisted.
Wandering naked
– no special plans –
down tracks that end in sea:
our baby daughter's
beach ball floated off.
'Don't worry, we'll get another one.'
She didn't cry.
Her gaze followed it, away
to other lands.
