Betrayed by the Hand of Science
In Missouri there used to be a judge who was desperately
afraid of lightning. A gathering thunderstorm changed him
from a dignified citizen into a quivering refugee. On a
summer evening he was entertaining guests at dinner. Sudd-
enly the skies became overcast and there was a rumble down
his knife and fork and from under the table came a flash of
lightning.
