The Mad Hotel
Walking at even-ring in the mad hotel,
where leisure gives
imagination
enormities of power,
you hear voices of a quick spry valour
fighting for tea,
see a cutting eye behind the blonde reception.
The red flowers writhe,
wrathful,
in cracked and careless bowls,
while in the games-room
devil-balls
spin slickly to their hells.
The roguish sea is bounding through the glass.
Sharp fingers curl
in the rough green chairs,
hating its presumption.
Sometimes, past midnight, mistakenly
the fire-bell
will break apart a night of unicorn.
