In A Certain Context These Could Be Called Fragments
Once again I’ve made the greatest mistake of my life.
I’m not proud of it.
It’s an afternoon when even to get out of the chair is too much.
We’ll grill till late.
Arguments arise about how you should do the bangers, in flame
or merely over heat.
You get sealed bags of meat from your Dad. I have to record
he’s got the world on his shoulders.
In all, you know, I’ve taken out seventy-two subscriptions.
It keeps me in work.
My fave is currently Barbecue Monthly, with Which Mistake? a close second.
I’m not proud of it.
Pride is reserved for the way we held off City last week down some mews.
A gatepost was an axe.
Philip Wilson teaches French and German in a comprehensive school. He likes My Chemical Romance and film noir, has published widely in magazines and is putting together a first collection. He has recently completed an English version of a long German mediaeval poem by Philipp of Seitz, bringing in murder, mayhem and black lipstick.
