Taking the Red Bath
Dropping a small carnelian
and three drops of ylang ylang
into the bath water,
lighting the red scented candle,
I peel myself.
Candlelight begins to clean before
the water has even touched my skin.
The shadows on the wall
my mind casts.
I lower myself in.
Water warms me to inaction,
soaks away trivia,
causes my blood
to believe in its own colour.
