The tester
the welder
both made sculptures
from what they could find
(the bosses never touched them
with their strict regulations)
the wires and the bulbs
steel and aluminium
circuits of their brains
no computer could replicate
figurines and beasts
which blew the fuse on boredom
mobiles and numberless clocks
which fired time to a stop
the tester and the welder
under cover
of screen and mask
using the abandoned parts
to create shapes
of symmetry disgust
of use and absurdity
they would only ever
barter or give away.
