JACK COPE was born on a Natal farm, now lives in Cape Town. His first novel, The Fair House, was published in England in 1955.
MALCOLM LOWRY, author of Under the Volcano, died at Ripe in Sussex in 1957. Before settling in Mexico, the scene of most of his work, he spent some years at sea. A collection of his shorter fiction, Hear Us, O Lord, is to appear soon.
GORDON MEYER, born in London in 1919, was educated at Cranleigh and Worcester College, Oxford. He served in the Navy during the war, since when he has been in business in South America. Two previous stories of his have appeared in The London Magazine, and he is at work on a novel.
FRANCIS FYTTON ‘s story, The Paras, appeared in our August issue. He lives in Paris, in the Latin Quarter, and works with Agence France-Presse.
LIONEL BRETT was the architect-planner of Hatfield New Town, has contributed numerous articles to architectural reviews, and is the author of the Penguin Houses.
JULIAN MITCHELL, whose first novel, Imaginary Toys, was published earlier this year, has recently returned from two years on a Harkness Fellowship in the United States.
DENIS DONOGHUE teaches at University College, Dublin. His book, The Third Voice, was a study of modern verse drama.
