The Shaman’s Psalm
I was but dust
Scattered on the ground
I was without words, without music,
Without colour, without shape
And then one night I awoke
To the sounds of the wind
And I heard you call my name
Swiftly, I ran
Through the shadows
To find your face
Staring eastward: dark eyes
Waiting for the light of day
Come, follow me, love
On whispering wings
All my years alone
I dreamed of only you
Come, we will piece this earth
Back together
We will stand before the dawn
And speak in numerous tongues
We will let the rain paint
The fields with many kinds of flowers
We will reach into our hearts
And bring out love
We will give the Earth a new name
We will give the Earth a new voice
We will sing in celebration
And when we sing, the spirits will hear us
And they will remember our years
Of crying and sadness,
Our years of pain
And they will sing with us
And then I will say:
I was dust,
But now I am life.
