Haibun: Being There
Early morning. A north wind and no sunshine; waiting for the hospital bus. I arrive precisely on time for my appointment, doubtless worried. There are some uncomfortable procedures to be gone through. That I get through them without feeling like a bodily organ vaguely attached to a human being is thanks to the kindness of the doctors and staff. Nothing sinister is discovered. The symptoms that worried me may be relieved by taking a natural oil
in an antiseptic room

Released from the clinic I make my way up to the first floor with its huge view of the sky. Here there are public seats and I can picnic
lunch by the window

lapis lazuli
The cars parked in rows on the opposite side of the road shine in scattered, gleaming colours: they radiate being there, as does this fly clinging to the outside of the glass pane. All is alive, I am alive and well
people coming and going
everything around me
as if new
