Idiots lit up. In the sun
Shifting, arrested behind smoked glass.

A jumble of illuminated letters, and do I dare
To add a line? Words and ash,
Blood and wine. Shadowy dust.
The cards dealt their hands.
The motorcade creeps past.
Yesterday’s sparrows taking dust baths
In the sun, rotated to today.
