Reflected back to child in green
Brown sandals mining splinters
From an obese table leg
Wrap her in your wavering melodies,
Grandma
As you bake a sable desert
Populated with cerise and lime
Pyramids
Exotic warm coconut
Sugar coated rosy lips
Patchwork cat curled
On her tiny emerald lap
Feline asthmatic roar falls and
Rises with the child’s star
And even now I hear your melodies
Echoing through lonely decades
