Like No Other
Flowered vision sound tracked by elephant footsteps.
Imagine my own bed, space and quiet. A sanctuary.
First cat viewed in the dark of a January night, stares
through halogen light and across to the common.
She appears in my dreams. Talks to solicitors and
Charles Bukowski, reads The Evening Standard
as envisaged by Hockney, en-route to sit for Freud,
Holland Park to Notting Hill.
In a field near Aughton, Lancashire, a flock of sheep
graze while one stares at a cameraman s lens.

Liverpool, here you are thought of like no other! They
only see what they want to see.
Fear not, their glacial streets hold no surprises, just
memories of Rainbow Drive and the slide to Waddicar
being cut off, like an Arctic expedition. Winter 1982.
Your sea air. The estuary. Eyes follow the trace of secrets
washed up on Waterloo’s shore with plastic and twine.
Stroll on! Never crawl or show them your fear, stand tall!
