A New BHS Logo
To celebrate Blithe Spirit’s reaching the ripe old age of 10 (BHS is into its twelfth year now…) we decided to commission a new logo which will begin to appear on our letterhead, leaflets and website. Thanks to Jonathan Buckley’s connections in the PR/design field, we were fortunate to receive a professional consultation free of charge… The logo you see here was achieved almost accidentally when the designer was beginning to despair of satisfying our confusing attempts at creative guidance. But when the Committee saw it there was a spontaneous and unanimous reaction that it had the right ‘feel’ for us in the next decade: a hint of dynamism and a desire to move things forward. It has even been suggested that the logo represents ‘the splash without the frog’, which might be an apt image to describe what ‘British haiku’ vis-à-vis ‘Japanese haiku’ can ever (and maybe should ever) aim to be.
