A Sequence XII
I'm tired of this word love it's over-
Worked, let's forget it
And rest in it, and what a day for it,
A perfect day, one can see from Wales to Cambridge
Without batting an eyelid,
And here in the middle one is guardian
Of all one wishes for. And say the hills give no cover
And the plains no release, and still we'd fit together
As truly as we do. And say there is horror
In the summer air, it is so still,
It is a miracle in nature,
The next blue sky may be the last.
Say there's no word for it, for what it is to say,
That in love's dance we mimic it
And that endless creation, taken how you will,
Is much to be desired. Say now that adventure
Is quite unsayable, and see — we are open
As summer roses, open for all time.
