The Marmelade Nemesis

The fruit butcher
has kitchen contempt
of voluptuous citrus flesh.
He warms his pans,
sharpens his knife
ready to boil her and strip her of her zest.

With sadian glee he hovers and gloats
as the joyous juice is drowned
in the gripe of spiritual hunger
he ensures there is no escape.

Stoically he seals the lid
on his neotonous rage,
for the taste in tasteless encounters
lost - from the recipe page.

In a moment of human hubris
he decides the time has come
delve into the fruits of life
to test, really he isn’t numb.

In a moment’s anticipation
he breathes deep her sensuous faith
licking his lips
he prepares to penetrate
with a lubricated butter knife.
He slices her once more,
and spreads her evenly
like soft porn on freshly cut bread.

But the consummation fails to reach
the great erotic heights
for he’d boiled her too long
cut her too thin
lost the shreds of her sweetness
in his bottled desire.
