Editorial
Not long ago we were on the top of the Stiperstones Hill in Shropshire investigating the landscape of some of the Wild Edric legends. It was a beautiful day. The views of Shropshire and the Welsh borders were magnificent. There was sunshine and lark song. The place itself, with its strange rocky outcrops, is just the kind of place in which legends are born. It’s the kind of place in which one thinks of all the people one would like to take to see it.
In the course of our travels we come across so many interesting and beautiful places as well as ugly ones, so much history waiting for us to discover, so many interesting and beautiful people, so much, in short, to catch and hold our attention, we could do with some of the longevity of the Edric legends to have the time to learn about some of what there is to know. And to share the knowledge, the discoveries, the experiences with our friends.
There is so much to share. No wonder so many people are writing so many poems, so many people with varying command of language with things to say to us. No wonder there are so many poetry magazines. Unfortunately not all of us can be heard. Let us hope that Borderlines plays some part in allowing us to share not only the things which enrich our lives in a comfortable way, but also things which may disturb us, make us think.
