Crystal
She got caught out in the sun,
running from his rooms across the square
where the rain washed the night’s indiscretions into gutters
and skitted off the back of the granite horse
that reared up at the sky.
She was running with her rain-soaked dress
slowing her thighs, showing the shape
of her breasts,
when the sun burst through
and shone on her
in the sudden stop of the shower,
lit her up like a crystal statuette,
her slender ankles gleaming,
her ten toe-nails winking like diamonds.
