Noise at 210 E. 15th St.: Critical Mass: Clash
Even the little animals are afraid.
Yogi, Joannie’s little dog, is circumspect,
doesn't even say hello.
We were dead to the world.
The snakes of sound attacked us
in our sleep, the fangs.
The sirens' howl, the helicopters’ throaty roar,
the feral horns of cars struggling to push through,
swooping to arrest the cyclists blocking the roads,
(even ambulances can’t get through) with their ride
against the RNC, oil greed, and,
struggling for sanctuary in the church, lose their bikes
and cuffed with plastic cuffs
they sit or kneel.
From her side of the building
Joan tells of the invasion of her 10th floor room
by blaring helicopter lights.
But some in the building don’t even hear a thing.
