Unexpected Angles and Aerial Perspective
Distant light softly beckons, falls on curve and texture,
focuses on the colour of flesh, a face bathed in shadow.
The woman has no message; she is quite simply beautiful.
Through unexpected twisting and unanticipated turning,
we have never really left . . . Oh, the ambiguity of boundary,
where presence is absence and absence is presence.
Harsh light ties and binds the darkness. Open spaces,
tunnels and lit chambers, bridge the illusion of distance,
a random sequence of isolated occurrences.
Let us focus on the actual process of vision:
in the thrall of three bare bulbs, domestic objects
reduce to flat shapes kept apart by thick black lines:
the difference between illusion and reality.
