Prospectus 2
I propose digging a series of canals on the moon’s surface,
to be seen from Earth through a simple telescope, and taking
the form of letters of the alphabet. (First venture into
extraterrestrial literature.)
The Lord’s Prayer on the head of a pin -- poetry on the nucleus
of an atom.
Will anyone submit to having his or her entire body tattooed
with verses, epigrams, literary fragments?
Electronic poetry gun firing 50,000 random letters per minute.
A monkey operating such could eventually turn out another
Hamlet or Finnegan’s Walke. (Might also speak of poetry warfare.)
Imagine a city built in the desert--fifty-story dwelling units
of steel and concrete shaped like letters, different groupings
of these structures forming words and phrases, which appear
from certain vantage points as verses, or literally as
concrete poems.
A phallus-shaped stimulator that can be programmed to vibrate
in Morse code your favorite poems, sweet nothings, love songs,
etc. (Rectal version for sodomists.)
There’s also the braille carpet. (Possibly in conjunction with
braille wallpaper.) The patron makes his way barefoot through
the darkened room, feeling out the word combinations--an
omnidirectional tactile map of meaning.
Beyond the “L” shaped room we could have the “B”, “P”, “Q”,
“X” or “Z”-- a labyrinthine manor containing rooms shaped in
all the letters. Constructs--mostly meaningless, but occasional
ones amounting to words and even poetic sequences -- could
result from the order in which one enters and traverses
these rooms. The provision of maps, eliminating the random
factor, would allow anyone to be his own walking poet.
In addition, I’m working on ideas for edible poetry, poetry
you can chew, gargle with, or smoke; poetry you can fondle,
suck, fuck, poetry you can kill; liquid poetry you can pour
into your ears, use as eye - or nosedrops, or take as an enema;
electroshock poetry, molecular poetry for mainlining; poetry
that can be worn, ridden, or slept on, poetry you can brush
your teeth with; poetry that shrinks hemmorrhoids, kills
cockroaches, and charms rats, poetry you have to keep in a
cage.
