He inches out the cutting, pockets it
to show his not-intended when she comes
to share his evening as they have arranged.
She is on the way. Her hands are on the wheel
of his shoulders. Her lap is generous for his head.
Her eyes shine through the cometting headlamps
to the blanket of the sky and the spread
of stars she means to shower on his bed.
