sprawling under a chair,
savouring a juicy bone,
lies outside in the campo.
Outside Tasca Eulalia
mother and daughter,
sauntering side by side,
drink two coca colas,
laden with ice.
For the amorous couple
in black and white,
a slice of chocolate gateau
and a glass of chilled apple juice suffice
Lemon tea in a china white cup,
Dine’s bags next to Lacoste.
Caja Madrid sits opposite
handsome Salvador Perez.
This is the El Comercio,
animated and content;
love and friendship accentuated
by almond and olive scents.
Spanish guitar and flamenco;
fireworks reverberate around,
lighting up the warm evening,
on a midsummer night in the town.
