The old are right
in coming here.
They understand
the ancient
imperturbability
of trees.
They seek
the gently
living thing.
Repeated summer
in tended soils
is their assurance.
Repeated summer
is their fact.
And children’s voices
in the trees
like freshest water
livening the leaves.
