Untitled
A little plastic swimming pool stands on a lawn
a little girl sits in the water
with a toy boat in her hand
The sun is shining
A woman stands on a gravel path
she absently fingers a rose
It’s the middle of the summer
From inside the house comes the sound of a pencil—sharpener
there is a man in there
On the road outside the gate
there is an ambulance
It is waiting
Far away in town the traffic lights are changing
red yellow green green yellow red
A man stands on the verandah
He sees a garden
and further away
a meadow
and beyond that
woods
The morning mist is just dispersing
Inside the house
one floor up
a woman is sitting
and crying
He listens
The air feels damp and chilly in his nose
He sees a glider
sailing silently across the sky
His blood-corpuscles are as big
as tennis balls
He looks at his boots
They are damp from the dew
