The Legend of the Chameleon
Chameleon water
takes on the colour
of what it lies against.
If you put the little
ugly lizard on
a cap our red school cap
it would try to blush then
die, allegedly.
I never saw this death,
I did see a crested
poised lancer which
paused to kill in green.
When the sea is lying
flat and you stand
above it looking down,
as the wind slides about
and prods the surface,
this idle wind's paddling
fingers zip and unzip
many thousand zips,
I didn't see this just
the sea resisting my
imagination
remaining fully clothed.
