A Child At Night
Darkness could not hide the rift
that tested the strength of both of you
lying awake,
grasping angry words
I empowered myself with the knowing
that daylight would bring touches of hope,
allowing us to play our parts,
dismissing truths
until weary habits pushed our souls
along familiar paths into another
uncertain night.
