On Quantitative Analysis
Now the idea is to put a camera on one tree from morning until night day after day, beginning with Spring when the tree begins to bloom and to follow it through the cycle of Fall, Winter, Summer and renewed Spring, never letting the camera stop or veer from its target - right on the tree, to catch every subtle change of growth and decline that the eye, moving restlessly from tree to tree or bush or person cannot detect.
What then will we have? And what then will we be able to discover? What we did not know before, stopping the film at particular points to study the differences from day to day, from hour to hour. What will we have discovered that is yet to be announced following this close examination of the film? But there is hope, plenty of hope, that it will yield what we yearn to know. Oh how we long to know as we live and as we die absolutely.
