Sea Town - January
Steel sea and sad cafes,
locked shops, shuttered down
files of lives
lost on bowed shelves,
dust in a disused window.
Desolation’s on a day out
to a winter town.
Bright shops for no-one.
sightless dummies -
dressed for the non-event.
Gulls gone, to fish at sea,
no dropped cheese feast,
accidental fish supper,
dumped ice-cream.
No stray dog on the beach.
Amusement Arcade unplugged
cacophony gone.
Ferris wheel - still as a pyramid
unuttered sand.
Painted clowns laugh at the wind.
