That Gentle Dark
that gentle dark
replacing shine and glare
with silk, poetry, fictitious flowers
imaginary music, harps and harmonicas
in those smooth hours
of arranged-for rest
dream and gleam of night
velvet pools, hidden gem-stones
small shards of insight.
In the scramble of tomorrow
the doing and daring
the rush and rumble
keys, computers
pen and paper, pills for ills
knives and forks, bread and butter
something of night remains
flickers and figments
traces in places
a slight fragmentary flutter
and then, again the dark
