Understanding the Fifties
Thinking about events from the stile,
I would look out onto the puzzle without guile,
School was ever present on my mind,
Yesterday’s ills weren’t silver-lined.
Orchards and trees set the tone,
Peace of mind was inherent to learn,
Wood-pigeons could be heard,
Swallows were searching above as time allowed.
Sheep would sometimes lose their way,
Brambles may be an explanation for the disarray.
The age of innocence was here
Already short-lived the operations!
