all up to make them big and strong enough
for moral gymnastics in the Empire. Place it,
small end uppermost, in its container, gently
tap off the shell - only impatients and incompetents
use a saw knife here: messy, polluting -
and plunge your spoon through the concealing white
- this sequence assumes a country product, perfect timing -
to the succulent heart, the golden glory,
and savour it, relish the unique smoothness
of its cream-filled sunshine; far too good for chickens.
Where you go from here could only be an anti-climax.
Frankly you may as well chuck the rest away.
