Tilden Park
to Opal
In the courtyards filled with liquids
-- The army had been circling for days
Trying to find an entrance -- Jupiter
Powerful, robust, restless, the command
Issues from livid lips, purple colour
Of a red vagina while in a sea of doubt
Many lovely heads are bobbing up and down
extradite your opinions before they become
too bad to eat, fires consumed with desire
devour Cathedrals, burn down Palaces feed
The angry mobs running the gauntlet of revolt
Violence ends in a lot of heavy breathing
going on behind closed doors -- I know words
Are in reality crystals whenever the interrupter
Raises his voice to the ceiling arrogant decibels
with sabre tooth eyelashes, outside they are
Throwing razor-edged frizbies which cut off
the unfortunate player’s head if they land on his neck
all other senses had been outlawed, locked up
in the dungeons to serve a life sentence
The house surrounded by a lovely body
In full view of some unquenchable hovel
A new swim-suit ready-made to be worn
By the unblushing nudity offering itself
To hungry eyes that couldnt see a thing
Angry spectators tore up the seats
Of the revolving Stadium, a blessing to some
A curse for others, rhythmical men appeared
Everywhere crunching strips of music
Sea-weed and tear-gas provoking artificial
Sunsets each one of their gestures contained
A magnetic storm to be bottled later and sold
As lemonade near the Merry-go-round often
confounded by the wise with another
legendary figure made of lead or sepia
A sculpture statued in pure light
stood its ground against the oncoming
assault of a bellowing wind
whose horns of glittering twilight
wiped off everything in sight
-- all of us who in the agonizing vine-yards of youth
had hoped for a better summer --
the escapee gives her name to an unlocked window
open to any vastness beyond the automobile graveyard
heavy armfuls of y o u tossed in the snow
off the melting feet of displaced hope
delicate mechanism elegant turn of phrase
meant to appease the night of its worried
unshaven chin of an old counsel or
whose flowery speech transmuted
The twittering hook of urgent business
Into a spidery scrawl
curves angles patterns approvals disapprovals
counterbalance the general meaning
a huge liver presides over the Court of Miracles
the crossing of the Ocean serving as an exclamation mark
arthritic bridges buried under tons of scorn
mountains of derision with food or wine
cascading into a small lake where
textbooks swim to every schoolboy’s amazement
matrimonial doves decipher Hittite inscriptions
what future can a wise animal expect from a shady past
love resides in the friendly relativity of a dog
too mathematical to gaze upon for ever
the click of a mouse-trap
perpetual victim of my own thought-ending life
let it suffice the multitude to feed on this majestic illusion
on the edge of a precipice
as each guest drops off in a deep slumber
for the next hundred years
