making its currents their accomplices
and erase the bloodstains
darkening on the walls
of the old town encircled
by barracks
white with the powder of human
bones heaped up
since time officially immemorial

kindled in the wind’s heart
to burn us
will spare them

hidden behind the flag
and the rank hierarchy
come the day
