Until the rice ripens
‘til the shadows cast
If there’s snow tonight
and the dimes march
‘Til the strike’s out
and the leaf ’s over
The bait’s cut
devil speaks
Heart thinks
turned tables
Deep six
the hat drops at
How his mind minds
to rule the bend
Breath’s baited
with cheeky tongue
When the slate’s clean
the letter’s open
Until the music faces
the limitless sky.
