Signs
I went to you: living dreams
wound themselves round me in a playful throng,
and the moon, on the right-hand path,
accompanied my eager running.
I went away: different dreams...
In the heart of the lover there was sorrow,
and the moon, on the left-hand path,
accompanied me, sadly.
With perpetual dreaming, in silence,
thus, we poets betray ourselves,
thus, superstitious signs agree
with the feelings of the heart.
