Chase the grime away.

Light shows through
dust on the windows.
Light highlights dust
which dances, mocking.
I am no different to his dust.
Clean the grate.
Clean the ashes.
Ashes to ashes.
Rinse the ashes
from your rubber gloves.
Polish the brass urn till it shines.
Dust settles. It will not leave.
Polish the brass.
The urn has pride of place.
Pride of place is all that’s left.
