Duffel-Coat
It still, after thirty years, smells brown.
Its coarseness grips my shoudlers
as I shrug it on
plunge deep into pockets.
Wad of gum
trenched by a tooth I don’t have now,
bus-ticket
from Bayswater to High Street Ken.
Its collar scuffs my neck
- and I’m sprinting, late for lectures,
past ducks and listing boats
on the round pond.
Its hood covers my eyes
- and my first lover slips the noose
off every bobbin
comes inside,
her slight pressure
nudging mine to bursting.
Sunlight gilds my sleeve. I can leap hedges.
