A Cloud is a Cloud
a collection of vapour
bringing rain in certain conditions.
A cloud is not human,
not a body or free soul,
and certainly not a whale.
A cloud is not an image,
any more than a metaphor.
It is a meteorological phenomenon
predicted by weather forecasters
with varying accuracy,
with icons of white, grey or black.
But sometimes clouds become thieves,
stealing the day for the night,
weeping the tears of heaven;
sometimes they scurry like rabbits
or mimic the shape of a camel.
And sometimes a cloud is a cloud.
