Bleacher Bums
the poor blue collar stiffs come in droves
to see their heroes play ball
fork down half a days pay
to get their minds off their dull jobs
to watch millionaire jocks run the
bases or knock one out of the park
they cheer and scream
and spill their beer on each other
these men with vacant eyes and failed dreams
and as the game grows late and the
wind blows in from the bay
they stand for the 7th inning stretch
rooting religiously for the home team
these face less phantoms from the
heart land of America
who help make up the legions
of the living dead
