Her Ever-Boiling Brood
after Adrienne Rich
On a never-ending mission, she hones
words that they may move those
she loves, those
whom she longs will love her.
No ordinary woman,
but a would-be bewitcher
with potion as poem,
she mounts hope, flies
in the eye of the star wishes hang
on, only to land in the middle
of nowhere not even close
to where her words can’t fail
moving those she loves, those
whom she longs will love her.
